Cell Specific Apoptosis Kits
Apoptosis (Anti-PS) Biocytometry Kits enable measurement of complex samples including fixed cells, cell culture, organoid/spheroids, and frozen samples. The bioparticles provided in the kit target the well-established marker phosphatidylserine (PS), which is displayed on the outer leaflet of the cell membrane in the early stages of apoptosis. Selection of a secondary marker allow the specific targeting of cell subpopulations in mixed cultures. The enumeration of the cells is performed through luminescence readout on a plate reader.
Targetable cell types:
- CAR-T cells (anti-CD19, anti-BCMA)
- Stem cells (CD34, SSEA4)
- Epithelial cells (EpCAM, EGFR)
- Leukocytes (CD45)
- Plasma cells (CD138)

Working Principle
The bioparticles in a kit bind to cells based on the targeted surface markers they express. Bioparticles are activated by adjacent bioparticles to evaluate the complete cell as a whole. Immunoprofiles are identified with an error rate of less than 1 in 1 million, resulting in the production of a luminescent reporter. The signal is measured on a plate reader for enumeration with performance comparable to flow cytometry.
In this example, the bioparticles target apoptotic epithelial cells when added to a mixed cell culture comprising lymphocytes (EpCAM-) and epithelial cells (EpCAM+). Through adjacency sensing between bioparticles, complete versus incomplete profiles can be identified. Only cells displaying both the phosphatidylserine (PS) marker and the secondary cell type marker (EpCAM), cause the production of the luminescent reporter.
